Masquerade General Information

Welcome to Anime Milwaukee’s Masquerade sponsored by BERNINA, Sew Much More & Arda Wigs!  Whether you prefer to compete as a contestant on stage or view costumes and skits from the audience, our Masquerade has a little of everything for you to enjoy.  Our Masquerade is the top tier costume event where entrants compete for recognition and trophies.

Late submissions will not be guaranteed entry into the contests.

Eligibility

  • All participants must read and agree to follow all rules of the Masquerade.

  • Costumes previously entered in an Anime Milwaukee Masquerade are ineligible.

  • By registering for the Masquerade, all participants agree to allow Anime Milwaukee to use their images for promotional purposes, both photographs and video - both those submitted in the entry, and those taken by us.

  • All convention policies must be upheld during the entirety of the Masquerade. Anyone seen/reported breaking Anime Milwaukee rules will be disqualified and reported.

How to Enter

  • The deadline for online pre-registration is February 1, 2025.

    • Soft acceptances will be sent out February 15, 2025.

    • Pre-judging time requests will be sent out February 24, 2025.

    • Official pre-judging times will be sent out March 1, 2025.

  • Limited on site registration will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • The total number of entries that will be allowed this year are as follows:

    • 25 Novice

    • 15 Journeyman

    • 10 Masters

    • 10 Performances

    • 5 Chibi

  • Entries are not taken first come first serve, for all future Masquerades entrants will go through a soft jury process to see how close to completion the cosplay is when submitted for the contest. Entrants should be at 70% completion by the time submissions close. This is being done to reduce the large number of drop outs we have been experiencing.

  • If all entry slots are full, there will be a waiting list for additional entrants who may be called in if anyone drops out or is disqualified.

  • Entrants must attend in-person and be present on-time at the following events:

    • All participants must attend the technical rehearsal at their assigned time.

    • Craftsmanship entrants must attend their assigned judging time.

    • Entrants who miss any of their assignments will be disqualified. See the schedule for times and locations of required events. Please see the official Anime Milwaukee schedule (once released) for times and locations required of Masquerade meetings and activities.

    • In-person sign-ups will be available at the Masquerade office at-con if there are spots open after online sign-up
