Anime Milwaukee is committed to creating an environment where attendees, guests, staff, exhibitors, and other participants can enjoy the convention without being recorded without their knowledge or consent.

Recording another person as the primary subject of a photo, video, livestream, or other recording requires that person’s explicit permission before recording begins. Consent must be freely given and may be withdrawn at any time.

This policy applies to any device capable of recording video, with or without audio, including phones, cameras, tablets, body-worn cameras, smart glasses, AI-enabled glasses such as Meta smart glasses, and similar wearable or recording devices.

Individuals who happen to appear incidentally in the background of a wider photo or video do not generally require individual permission. This exception does not apply when a person is intentionally followed, focused on, singled out, or otherwise made the subject of the recording.

Recording is strictly prohibited in the Autograph Area unless explicit permission has been provided by the guest or the guest’s handler.

Recording during guest panels is also prohibited unless the guest, their handler, or Anime Milwaukee has specifically stated that photography or recording is permitted. Permission to take photographs does not automatically grant permission to record video or audio.

Livestreaming follows the same rules as any other form of recording. Attendees may not livestream, continuously record, or use wearable recording devices in a manner that captures individuals without their consent.

Anime Milwaukee staff may instruct an attendee to stop recording, turn off or remove a recording device, or leave an area where recording is prohibited. Refusal to comply with staff instructions or repeated violations of this policy may result in removal from the event and revocation of membership without refund.

Members of the press, approved content creators, photographers, videographers, and other credentialed individuals remain subject to Anime Milwaukee’s media policies and any additional restrictions communicated by staff, guests, performers, or participants.

When in doubt, ask before you record. A person attending Anime Milwaukee has not consented to being recorded simply by being present at the convention.
